Emirati aid aircraft are still roaming many countries, adhering to the "policy of granting foreign aid", which is not related to the political orientations of the countries that benefit from them, nor the geographical location, race, color, sect, or religion, but rather takes into account in the first place the humanitarian aspect , Which is represented in the needs of the people, reducing poverty, eliminating hunger, building development projects for everyone who needs them, and establishing relations with the recipient and donor country to achieve the goals of sustainable development.
Finally, in cooperation with the United Nations World Food Program, the country launched an international air bridge to provide a line of health and humanitarian supplies, which are a lifeline for the fragile societies that suffer the devastating effects of the (Covid-19) pandemic throughout the world. The largest donors in the world are helping a large group of countries to support them in limiting the spread of the virus by operating aid aircraft carrying hundreds of tons of medical supplies, which benefit hundreds of thousands of health care workers, to enhance their efforts in containing it.
This humanitarian policy of the state comes in a practical application of the culture of tolerance and moderation that it adopts, and it has established a sustainable institutional work aimed at promoting and deepening the values of tolerance and dialogue, acceptance of the other, and openness to different cultures.
Finally, the state confirmed its commitment to combat the Covid-19 virus at the global pledging conference, which aims to raise more than 7.5 billion euros to increase tests, expand treatment, and invest in vaccine development to reduce the spread of the new Corona virus.
Support is continuing
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros Adhanum Gebresus, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United Arab Emirates, and to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, for the continuous support of the global efforts to address the Corona virus.
Gebrysus had posted a tweet on his account on Twitter, in which he said: “Thank you, the United Arab Emirates, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, for the continuous support of global efforts to tackle the emerging Corona virus.”
He republished a tweet containing the news about the UAE sending aid to Iran to combat the Corona epidemic, as the UAE had sent two aid planes carrying medical supplies and relief equipment to Iran, to support them in the face of the new Corona virus.
The planes carried over 32 tons of supplies, including boxes of gloves, surgical masks and protective equipment. The state also contributed to the transfer of a shipment containing 20 tons of personal protective equipment from Shanghai to the WHO warehouses in the International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai, to help the organization to enhance its strategic stockpile in light of the new Corona epidemic, and support its efforts to continue the humanitarian response Rapid for the countries in need, as the organization is based in the International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai, which is a global logistics center specializing in emergency preparedness and the distribution of humanitarian aid, and the city is the largest logistics center for humanitarian services and relief materials in the world. In cooperation with the World Health Organization, the UAE sent 27 tons of various medical and preventive supplies, including seven tons of aid from the state, and 20 tons from the organization. It sent 33 tons of medical supplies, including 15 tons provided by the state to Ethiopia, about three tons provided by the state to the African Union, and 15 tons provided by the World Health Organization to support Ethiopia, and other African countries in the face of the virus.
With the support of the UAE, the World Health Organization provided medical supplies and equipment to Iran, as part of its efforts to contain the emerging "Corona" virus, and a UAE Air Force plane transported 7.5 tons of supplies from the International Humanitarian City in Dubai to Iran.
The International City for Humanitarian Services in Dubai has packaged and shipped supplies that include hundreds of thousands of gloves, surgical masks and related materials, that will help about 15,000 people and health care workers in Iran.
The shipment includes laboratory diagnostic tools used to scan thousands of people, and support efforts to control the virus.
The Executive Director of the World Food Program of the United Nations, David Paisley, expressed his deep appreciation for the humanitarian initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the latest of which was His Highness’s initiative to evacuate the citizens of a number of countries of the world from the Chinese province of Hubei, appreciating the support provided by the UAE to the organization Global health, by allocating a plane to transport medical supplies and equipment provided by the organization to Iran, as part of its efforts to contain the emerging corona virus. He stressed that the UAE is a major donor to the World Food Program and a key partner in its humanitarian missions around the world.
The Tunisian President, Qais Saeed, during a telephone conversation with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed his appreciation for the UAE's keenness to provide support to its brothers, in light of the difficult circumstances in the region and the world. He praised the humanitarian approach it takes in dealing with the crisis, wishing the Emirati people safety from all evil.
In a direct speech to him, the Serbian President, Alexander Vucic, thanked the Emirates after his country received medical aid from it, describing His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a "great friend."
For his part, the American businessman, programmer and co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, praised the support provided by the UAE to support the efforts of countries and their health institutions, and enhance their capabilities in facing the spread of the virus and its effects.
