The foreign ministers of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Cyprus and France called on the Libyan parties to abide by the armistice during the month of Ramadan, and condemned the Turkish military intervention in Libya.

"The meeting dealt with crises that threaten peace and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean," a statement said after the foreign ministers' meeting of the five countries.

The statement condemned Turkish military intervention in Libya, and demanded that Ankara fully respect the UN arms embargo and stop the flow of foreign fighters from Syria to Libya, and considered that Turkish interference threatens the stability of neighboring African and European countries.

The statement pointed out that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Turkey and the Government of Concord on the delimitation of maritime borders violates the sovereign rights of third countries, and is not consistent with the law of the sea.

For
its part, Turkish response , the Turkish Foreign Ministry condemned the statement issued by the ministerial meeting, describing the statement of those countries as an example of "a blatant example of the double standard policy of a group of countries that have delirious opposition to Turkey."

"The rulers of Egypt have given up protecting the rights and interests of the Egyptian people," the ministry said in a statement. "The UAE, which has no relationship with this region, aims to bring these countries together under the slogan of anti-Turkey and Libya."

The statement added, "The French wanted to support the alliance of evil, because it wanted revenge against Turkey, which had foiled its plan to establish a separatist state in northern Syria."

The Turkish Foreign Ministry statement also called on these countries to act in accordance with the laws and international transactions, as peace is achieved through dialogue and cooperation and not through evil alliances.
