Even if the offices may reopen this summer, depending on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic, telework will undoubtedly remain in place at Google for the rest of 2020. This was announced Thursday Sundar Pichai, CEO of the parent company Alphabet, at a weekly general meeting online.

He explained that those who need to return to the office will be able to do so in June or July, using enhanced security measures. But they will be the exception. Alphabet employs more than 100,000 people worldwide. At the end of April the group had already specified that teleworking would continue at least until June 1, and that the return would be "staggered" and "gradual".

Facebook plans to reopen its various offices from July 6, but all its employees who wish can, however, continue to work from home until 2021.

Facebook employed 45,000 people worldwide at the end of 2019 (not counting the thousands of workers employed by subcontractors) and plans to recruit 10,000 more to accelerate the development of its product and service offer, particularly suited to distancing measures social. Mark Zuckerberg, the group's boss, had already announced last month that his group would not hold rallies of more than 50 people until July 2021 at best.
