Reuters calculations - based on official figures in the Arab Gulf states - showed that the number of coronavirus cases in the region today exceeded one hundred thousand and the number of deaths reached 557, and for its part, the United States (the largest outbreak of the pandemic) in the world recorded the lowest daily number of deaths in half a month.

Saudi Arabia, the largest Gulf country with a population of about 30 million, has announced the largest toll, with 41,014 injuries and 255 deaths, and today only 1966 cases and nine new deaths were recorded. Health authorities said last month that the emerging virus could eventually infect between 10,000 and 200,000 people in the country.

On May 5, Qatar surpassed the number of injuries recorded in the UAE, placing it in the second place for the highest number of injuries among the six Arab Gulf states, as well as in the Arab countries.

Peak in Qatar Qatar
recorded a steady increase in the number of cases to reach 23,623 cases, while the number of deaths stabilized at 14 cases, and health authorities said last Thursday that the outbreak of the disease entered the peak stage.

In the UAE, the third Arab and Gulf region, there were 18,198 HIV infections and 198 deaths.

On the other hand, some Arab Gulf states have eased measures to contain the pandemic with the start of Ramadan on the 24th of last month.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia eased the curfew imposed since the middle of last March, while Kuwait - which witnessed a recent increase in the numbers of new injuries - imposed a complete curfew on Sunday for 20 days that excluded basic services instead of the 16-hour ban previously imposed .

While Qatar kept closing public places except for those that provide services and basic commodities.

No injuries in Tunisia
and outside the Gulf region, Tunisia did not register today for the first time since last March any new infection with the emerging virus, a week after the start of easing the measures of complete isolation that were approved in the country to contain the disease.

The Ministry of Health confirmed today that the number of people infected with the virus stabilized at 1032 people, 45 of whom died, and 700 recovered.

In Jordan, a government spokesman said today that the authorities decided to allow state employees to return to work following the Eid al-Fitr holiday on May 26, after a break of nearly two months, imposed by the authorities as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus.

The authorities will continue to enforce the night curfew until further notice, despite the relaxation of strict public isolation restrictions during the past two weeks, by allowing most commercial activities to resume operations.

The situation in America
recorded today the number below the thousand deaths of the Coronavirus, for the first time since April 27. According to Word Meter website statistics, this country recorded 751 new deaths in Corona, taking the total to 80,807.

The data showed that 20,842 infected with the virus, bringing the total number to one million, 369,157, and recovered from the disease 256,345 nationwide.

On the European continent, Germany said today that new infections with the Coruna virus are accelerating steadily after early steps to reduce public isolation, news that raises the alarm globally as business activities resume operations in a number of countries.

The Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases also stated that the number of people who were infected with each infection (the prevalence of infection) rose to 1.1, and a higher than one means that the number of new infections increases greatly.

In contrast to Germany, the Italian Civil Protection Agency (the fourth focus of the disease in the world) said that deaths from the virus increased today by 179 cases, compared to 165 the previous day, while the number of new infections decreased to 744 from 802 cases yesterday. This is the lowest number of new infections announced since the fourth of last March.
