China News Service, May 11 (Xinhua) According to the website of the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, there have been many cases of vicious violence involving kidnapping and homicide of Chinese citizens in Sihanoukville, Cambodia (abbreviated as "Westport"). The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia once again reminded Chinese citizens in Cambodia to raise their security awareness and strengthen their own prevention:
1. Chinese citizens in Cambodia are required to clean themselves, strictly abide by the laws and regulations, stay away from pornography, gambling, and drugs, and do not get involved in casinos and informal entertainment venues to avoid harming themselves.
Second, please follow the formal channels to come to Cambodia to work legally. Don't trust some companies (mostly illegal online gambling companies) to recruit false advertising information of so-called company personnel, typists, sales, customer service and other personnel with high salaries. Once fooled, the illegal workers in Cambodia are not allowed, and the treatment cannot be guaranteed. In the worst cases, they are kidnapped for extortion, and the psychological, physical, and money are greatly damaged.
3. Please keep the passport properly, don't give it to others for safekeeping, don't discard, transfer or mortgage the passport to others, so as to better protect your own security rights. If the passport is illegally seized by others in Cambodia, the local police should be reported to the Cambodian police as soon as possible and notified to the embassy.
