The Décastar de Talence (Gironde), a combined event meeting where Kevin Mayer had set the world record for the decathlon in September 2018, is canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers announced on Monday.

Scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2020, one of the two biggest world meetings for specialists in combined events (decathlon for men, heptathlon for women) is canceled while uncertainty reigns over world athletics. The Tokyo Olympics have been postponed to 2021, and all international meetings until July and the Paris Euro, scheduled for late August, have already been canceled due to the coronavirus.

On September 15 and 16, 2018, Frenchman Kevin Mayer established the new world decathlon record (9,126 points) during the Decastar held at the Pierre Paul Bernard stadium in Talence.
