A 19-year-old young man faces dangerous driving charges for driving at an "incredible" speed of 308 km / h on a highway in Ontario, Canada, local police said Sunday. "This is the worst speeding ticket I have heard of," said Sergeant Kerry Schmidt, still surprised, in a video posted on Twitter.

The driver, accompanied by a young man his age, was driving his father's Mercedes. His license was immediately suspended and the vehicle confiscated for seven days.

He is also charged with dangerous driving, said Sergeant Schmidt. The incident took place late this Saturday evening, southwest of Toronto, on a portion of the Queen Elizabeth Highway, where speed is limited to 100 km / h. "It could have turned into a terrible accident (...) the Queen Elizabeth Highway is not a racing circuit," said the sergeant, indignant that the motorists who had seen the car pass the horn honking to express their satisfaction when they saw the police intercept him.

The young man was released before having to answer for his act. "I'm sure he will have a hard time explaining why [...] papa's car is no longer in the garage," concluded the policeman, tongue-in-cheek.
