US Congressman Muslim Ilhan Omar expressed surprise at what she called the international disregard for the UAE's role in plunging Yemen into war and chaos.

"In Yemen, the world recognized the role of Saudi Arabia and Iran in the civil war that destroyed the country and caused the worst humanitarian crisis," Ilhan Omar wrote on Twitter.

"But the United Arab Emirates largely passes without anyone noticing its role in plunging Yemen into war and chaos, why?"

There was no immediate comment from Abu Dhabi in response to the lawmaker's accusations against Congress.

It is noteworthy that the relationship between the Yemeni government and the UAE is witnessing a crisis that reached the stage of "boycotting", after fierce fighting erupted between government forces and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council in Aden, in early August.

This fighting ended with the expulsion of the government, which accused the UAE of masterminding a second coup against it after the Houthi coup, which Abu Dhabi denies.

Yemeni officials from time to time accuse the UAE of supporting armed formations outside the legal authority and fueling conflicts and violence in separate areas of the country, especially the governorates of Socotra Archipelago in the east and Shabwa in the south and Taiz in the center, but the UAE usually denies these accusations.

In recent months, tension and tension between government forces and the separatist Transitional Council have escalated, especially after the latter declared on April 26 last year a state of public emergency, and the inauguration of what he called the self-administration of the south.

It is noteworthy that Yemen is witnessing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world as a result of the war that has lasted for six years, as 80% of the population needs humanitarian aid, in a country that suffers almost complete collapse in all fields, especially the health sector in light of the Corona virus pandemic.
