On Friday, May 8, 2020, Europe celebrated the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in 1945.

On this occasion, the British Foreign Office published, in its accounts on social media, rare images of Queen Elizabeth, Queen of Britain, during her participation in the Second World War.

And the ministry commented on the photo, saying: "Did you know that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth is the only one among the heads of state who are still alive who served in the Second World War?"

At the time, Queen Elizabeth joined the Supportive Land Service Unit in 1945 when she was 18 and trained to serve as a driver and mechanic. She was the first and only female member of the royal family to join the armed forces.

According to the ministry, the rank of Queen Elizabeth was at that time a second lieutenant when she joined the service, and after five months her rank rose to the equivalent of that of a captain. In these photos, the queen appears during mechanical training at the mechanical training center of the Land Service Support Unit in Kimberley, England.

It is noteworthy that in the year 2003, Her Majesty talked about her experience in the service in the Land Support Service and met her colleagues who trained alongside her in 1945.
