The last Covid-19 contamination recorded in Wuhan was on April 3. This Sunday, the National Health Commission announced the discovery of a new case in this Chinese city of 11 million inhabitants, the cradle of the pandemic. An 89-year-old man living in the Dongxihu district of northwest Wuhan was infected, local officials said.

China raised the epidemiological risk level from "low" to "medium" in this district of Wuhan on Sunday. The city was particularly bruised by the virus, which has infected nearly 83,000 people in the country and killed 4,633 people, according to official figures.

13 other new cases in China

Apart from the Wuhan case, China reported on Sunday 13 new cases of Covid-19 on its territory. It is the first time since May 1 that the country announces a double-digit increase in the number of contaminations on a day. The vast majority of new cases are located in the northeast of the country, where the city of Shulan has also been quarantined.
