Objective on the eve of deconfinement: limit the number of people in public transport in Ile-de-France. Carpoolers will therefore be able to take reserved lanes on two Ile-de-France motorways this Monday in order to promote this mode of transport and limit the congestion expected with the deconfinement, authorities announced on Sunday.

In a press release, the Ministry of Ecological Transition points out the risk of a "postponement towards an individual use of the car on a daily basis, likely to quickly saturate the road axes".

Carpool, but in compliance with health obligations

To limit this phenomenon, the lanes usually reserved for public transport and taxis on the A1 and A6A motorways may be temporarily used by carpooling vehicles.

The ministry stresses that "the implementation of carpooling must however be adapted to the context of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic" and quotes "several health obligations": a single passenger is admitted, he cannot sit next to the driver and both must wear a mask.
