The Medical Director of the Center for Communicable Diseases in Qatar, Dr. Mona Al-Muslimani, confirmed that the plasma treatment of the emerging corona virus that causes "Covid 19" has proven successful, noting that the plasma taken from one donor distributed to three infected people.

Dr. Mona added, in a private interview with Al-Jazeera Net, speaking about the plasma treatment protocol that Qatar recently applied, that the plasma treatment taken from patients who had been cured from Corona, proved successful during the short period in which it was approved, explaining that 50% of people with difficult conditions from Those who were plasma injected were recovered and ventilators were removed.

Plasma is the liquid component of the blood that is extracted from patients who have recovered from an infection, such as a SK virus infection. When a person overcomes a disease, it produces enough antibodies to save another person's life. The basic idea is that these antibodies "can provide temporary assistance by interfering with the virus, so that this person develops an immune response," according to a report by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Mona called on all persons recovering from Corona to donate plasma in order to save the lives of others, especially as the current stage of plasma therapy is devoted to difficult cases that need excellent health care, and medium cases to prevent the aggravation of the infection.

She added that the plasma donor can donate twice per week and not to exceed 24 times per year. 

The doctor pointed out that the plasma contains antibodies that supply the immune corona patient, and is considered a treatment, not just prevention, noting that the Hamad Medical Corporation applies all the criteria before obtaining the plasma by examining the blood of the donor and making sure that it is free from infectious diseases.

She also pointed out that the plasma taken from one donor is distributed to three patients, pointing out that the use of plasma has emerged in the treatment of some diseases since many years, as it was used in the treatment of diseases such as "SARS" and the Middle East syndrome and swine flu, and the results were mixed in recovery Those cases.

Early preparations
Dr. Mona stressed that the early preparations made by the State of Qatar since the virus started in February last year have provided the appropriate capabilities today, noting that increasing the absorptive capacity in hospitals devoted to treating corona and building field hospitals with high absorptive capacity, all of which contributed In alleviating the recent increase in the number of injured.

She stressed that all those infected with corona inside Qatar receive appropriate treatment and enjoy full care because of the possibilities provided by the state.

She noted that the Ministry of Health has allocated five hospitals for the treatment of Corona patients, including the recently opened Mesaieed Hospital and Ras Laffan Hospital, in addition to implementing a comprehensive examination and testing strategy that also included the allocation of hotels and the construction of dedicated stone and sanitary facilities with 30,000 beds.

The CMD Medical Director has identified a number of groups at greatest risk of infection with the Coronavirus, including people aged 56 or over, people of all ages with special medical conditions, people with lung or asthma diseases, and people who Suffering from serious heart diseases, people with weakened immunity, as well as obese and diabetes patients.
