The sound recording was revealed by the news site Yahoo News and repeated repeatedly by the American media, reports our correspondent in New York,Loubna Anaki . During a telephone discussion with former collaborators, Barack Obama would not have hesitated to criticize in a rather open manner the management of the epidemic of Covid-19 by the White House.

Over 30 minutes, we hear the former president describe Donald Trump's response to the global pandemic as "  anemic and uneven  ". The situation would have been complicated for the best of governments  ", continues Barack Obama, before concluding: "  But there, it is quite simply an absolute chaotic disaster.  "

Statements that Barack Obama's spokesperson declined to comment on. It is not the first time that the former president has criticized the current tenant of the White House since the start of the epidemic, but it is the first time that these criticisms are so sharp.

The United States is the most affected country in the world with nearly 79,000 deaths and 1.3 million cases. Saturday, the daily assessment was established around the bar of 1,600 deaths for the second day in a row, which represents a certain decline after several days to more than 2,000 deaths.

The Michael Flynn case

In the same conversation, the former Democratic president also discussed the controversial justice decision to drop the charges against Michael Flynn, a former advisor to Donald Trump, who was prosecuted for lying about his relations with a Russian diplomat. "  There is no precedent that can be found for a person charged with perjury who gets away with it,  " he said.  This is the kind of situation where we can begin to fear that (...) our basic reading of the rule of law will be threatened. "

Situations which, according to Barack Obama, justify more than ever to elect "  good leaders  ". "  That's why I'm going to spend as much time as I need to campaign as intensively as possible for Joe Biden,  " he said.
