May 09, 2020 The man lost on the Folgaria plateau was found lifeless in an overhang. The Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue had been alerted in the early afternoon to participate in the search for a person on the Folgaria Plateau, which began during the morning. The body of the 56-year-old man residing in Folgaria was found just before 8 pm at the base of a rock jump in the woods around Passo Sommo.

Fatal for him was a slip that made him fall for tens of meters into an overhang, after going out to look for his dog that had gone away. The body was recovered from the helicopter and taken to the mortuary of the Folgaria rest home.

The operators of the Altipiani, Rovereto, Ala, Levico and Riva del Garda stations and the dog units of the Trentino Alpine and Speleological Rescue team joined the research in the afternoon, collaborating with the Fire Brigade, the molecular dog of the Provincial School of Research Dogs and Catastrophe, the Red Cross, the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Arsiero Veneto and the Carabinieri. With the discovery of the machine in Grimen (Forte Cherle area), the research focused on the surrounding woods, also using the drones of the Fire Brigade and the helicopter for a flight overhead.

Shortly before 7 pm the dog was found alive but alone, while the trace followed by the molecular dog led near an overhanging wall. With rope drops the rescuers arrived at the base of the rock wall where the lifeless body of man was found. After the authorization from the authorities, the body recovery operation was carried out by the helicopter with the support of the ground team and ended around 8.45 pm.
