Heart problems have returned to the hospital to the former federal coordinator of Izquierda Unida (IU), Julio Anguita, who has been admitted this Saturday to the Reina Sofía Hospital in Córdoba, after suffering, as this newspaper has learned, a heart attack at his home in the Cordovan capital. Its state is, according to municipal sources, serious.
At around 10:30 am this Saturday, an ambulance has taken the former political leader from his residence in Córdoba to the hospital center, where he is being treated after he was treated there by a team from 061, who intubated him. The admission was due to cardiorespiratory arrest and not a possible Covid-19 infection. As EL MUNDO has learned, Anguita is in the Intensive Care Unit, is currently undergoing a multitude of tests and his prognosis is serious.
It must be remembered that Anguita has been admitted on previous occasions due to heart problems. In 1993 and 1998 he suffered two heart attacks and in 1999 he had to undergo an operation at the Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid in which a triple bypass was installed .
It would not be until 2014 when, again, he required medical attention after suffering angina, which led him to undergo another intervention , this time, to place two stents in the coronary arteries, thus favoring better blood circulation.
From the Reina Sofía Hospital they have been reserved further comment and, if the family consents, will be the center which emit a party official.
