The Chinese health authorities will build a "centralized, unified and effective" command system that will allow it to respond faster and more effectively to any future public health crisis.

On Friday, Beijing announced that it would support a WHO-led review to assess the global response to the virus after the "epidemic" ended.

The announcement came after US President Donald Trump escalated his criticism of China in recent days, saying that the virus "could have been stopped in China."
