Juliette Le Droumaguet, 7, has been missing since mid-April in Paraguay. Some 200 police, military and firefighters, helped by dogs, were mobilized to look for her around her family's home on Friday in Emboscada, a small town near the capital Asuncion.

A 7-year-old Frenchwoman, Juliette Le Droumaguet, has been missing in Paraguay since mid-April and her Paraguayan mother is imprisoned, as well as her German stepfather, we learned from the police on Friday. "Juliette's research has turned into a national cause," said Deputy Security Minister Carlos Altenburger. "We dedicate our best team to it".

"Samples" made

Some 200 police, military and firefighters, helped by dogs were thus mobilized for this research Friday around the home of the girl, in Emboscada, a small town near the capital Asuncion. "We did not find anything," the investigative director, Commissioner César Silguero, told reporters after a day's work that started at 6 a.m.

"We have taken some samples which will be compared to others. I do not wish to comment before the report which we will present next week," said prosecutor Irene Alvarez.

Possible sequestration

Juliette Le Droumaguet, nicknamed "Yuyu", is the daughter of Stéphane Le Droumaguet, a 37-year-old Frenchman who separated from the mother a year ago. The girl disappeared on the morning of April 15, with two goats that she liked and that she had gone to see on a farm. The two goats were found 10 km away, but not Juliette. The investigation relates to a possible sequestration or a homicide.

The mother, Lilian Zapata, 33, and her partner, Reiner Oberüber, 55, were arrested on May 5 for these crimes and for breaches of their parental obligations. The research must continue this weekend, with more dogs and technological means, indicated the parquet floor.
