Departing from Paris and Île-de-France at the start of confinement, almost two months ago, many employees returned to the capital this weekend before returning to work, starting on Monday. Europe 1 went to meet them at Montparnasse station on Saturday afternoon.

REPORTAGE

For around 900,000 people in France, this Monday will look like a real comeback, deconfinement requires. However, some of them were far from their main home during the confinement; this is the case of many Ile-de-France residents exiled to the provinces to better live this period of traffic restrictions. Saturday, Europe 1 went to meet those who returned to the capital before returning to work.

"Almost empty train"

Gare Montparnasse, Saturday afternoon, the Ile-de-France residents were rather fatalistic after their return trip. "The train was almost empty, however they left people nearby. We moved on the train ourselves," said Séverine, tanned and radiant after two months spent on Île de Ré.

This Parisian did not expect to be greeted by the police and to see painted circles on the quays to respect social distancing: "People do not respect circles at all! It is true that when you arrive and you are stranded at leaving the train, knowing that we have already been checked on the outward journey, that we have checked our certificate and that they are checking again here… I don't understand the principle when we have already boarded the train. "

"Not a return to everyday life"

Police checks, a more necessary social distancing and an atmosphere that contrasts with the living environment chosen for eight weeks. "It's weird, I was in the countryside so I didn't realize everyday life," said Pauline, who spent confinement in the Breton countryside. "I told myself that I would realize it in Paris, with the empty neighborhoods and the shops closed. Everyone with masks, I didn't see all that."

Pauline, who is a store salesperson, will resume work on Monday. "It's a strange return to reality, it's not a return to everyday life," she says. "We will adapt as these weeks go by." Even if the arrival is brutal, she says she is nevertheless impatient to find her friends who have stayed in Paris.
