• Courts: The Supreme confirms the prison sentences of Félix Millet and Jordi Montull for the looting of the Palau de la Música

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office presented a letter to Section 10 of the Barcelona Hearing on Thursday requesting the entry into prison of the former heads of the Palau de la Música, Fèlix Millet and Jordi Montull, in addition to his daughter, Gemma Montull, and former CDC treasurer Daniel Osàcar. A few weeks ago the Supreme Court ratified the prison terms for those convicted in the 'Palau case'. In addition, the Public Prosecutor's Office requests the court to make the appropriate requirements to make effective the economic responsibility established in the judgment, both regarding the civil responsibility and the confiscation of the profits obtained and lawfully.

In this way, the prosecutor claims the confiscation of 6.6 million euros from Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC) as profits obtained through influence peddling. The defenses of Millet, Montull and Osàcar will ask that they not enter prison for their delicate state of health and Gemma Montull because each sentence to which she was sentenced does not exceed two years in prison separately.

In late April, the Supreme Court confirmed the sentence of 9 years and 8 months in prison and a fine of 4.1 million euros to Felix Millet and that of 7 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of 2.9 million euros to Jordi Montull. However, he reduced the sentence to the former financial manager of the Palau Gemma Montull, who goes from 4 years and 6 months in prison to 4 years, maintaining the fine of 2.6 million euros while former CDC treasurer Daniel Osácar, acquitted of influence peddling and reduced the sentence to 3 years and 6 months, together with the fine of 3.7 million euros, as the author of a crime of money laundering, in media contest with a continued crime of falsification in a commercial document and a crime of accounting falsehood.

The Supreme Court also confirms that the heads of the Palau must return 23 million euros to the structures of the entity whose funds were diverted for their own benefit. Furthermore, the ruling confirms Ferrovial's 4% commissions to CDC in exchange for the award of public works. CDC kept 2.5% and the remaining 1.5% went to Millet and Montull. That is why it is also asked to commission this amount since the party had 15 headquarters seized by this case.
