A joint ministerial article on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the restoration of Russian-Cuban diplomatic relations was published in the Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“Russia and Cuba are convinced that the current situation requires cooperation and solidarity and that international depoliticized efforts to develop and share the results of scientific research, the experience of different countries in preventing the spread of coronavirus infection ... will help reduce the duration of the pandemic and reduce the dynamics of mortality,” - said in a statement.

Lavrov and Parrilla also emphasized that the UN and the World Health Organization (WHO) should play a leading role in combating the pandemic.

Lavrov said earlier that Russia will continue to provide financial support to WHO, despite criticism from the United States.

He also said that the "senior comrades" do not allow the countries of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance to ask for humanitarian assistance from Russia.
