08 May 2020In the village of Miejsce Odrzańskie, where only girls have been born for 10 years, the first baby boy was finally born. The peculiarity of this phenomenon of exclusively female births has made the village famous all over the world, attracting crowds of journalists.

The boy was called Bartek and, a month before him, the thirteenth child had been born in the village since the beginning of the year, the third daughter of a family.

According to Poland's national demographics, the ratio is 106 males per 100 females in the country. In Miejsce Odrzańskie, however, the trend is completely different. Scientists have not been able to explain this particular demographic phenomenon.

In the village even the fire brigade is made up of females only, with the exception of the commander. The mayor, Rajmund Frischko, has announced he will be titling a road in Bartek.
