The accident happened at 06.30 on the route between Vagnhärad and Hölö. Lynx is considered to have particularly high natural value and is included in the state's game. This means that police should be contacted if a lynx is killed or found dead in the wild, and that it is forwarded to the Natural History Museum where a thorough investigation is done.
In recent years, the county administrative board in Sörmland has invented 1–3 lynx rejuvenations, females with young, which corresponds to a stock of a total of 5–15 lynx. In this year's inventory, 1.5 rejuvenations were found - one female with cubs in Sörmland and one with pupils extending across the county boundary towards Östergötland.
