"Painful fantasies"
The Czech authorities dismantled the monument to Marshal Ivan Konev on April 3. The head of the Prague-6 district, Ondřej Kolář cynically commented on the demolition: “He didn’t have a mask”.
Further, in the Czech media, with reference to the country's special services, information appeared about a certain man with a Russian diplomatic passport, who allegedly delivered poison ricin to the Russian embassy, intended for those involved in the demolition. The Russian Foreign Ministry called this information "painful fantasies."
Czech President Milos Zeman considers the demolition of the monument to Konev "stupid unremarkable municipal politicians." Assistant to the President of Russia, Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society Vladimir Medinsky said that in this way the Czech authorities “take out their inferiority complex”. Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu asked his Czech counterpart Lubomyr Metnar to hand over the dismantled monument to Russia.
