May 07, 2020 Russia is the fifth country in the world for total Covid-19 cases ascertained: this is what emerges from the data published by John Hopkins University. Russia (144 million inhabitants) today announced that it has reached 177,160 infections, thus surpassing Germany (168,162 cases on a population of 83 million inhabitants) and France (174,224c asi on a population of 67 million inhabitants). A greater number of confirmed infections are found in the USA (1,228,609 cases out of a population of 330 million inhabitants), in Spain (220,325 cases out of a population of 47 million inhabitants), in Italy (214,457 cases out of a population of 60 million inhabitants) and in Great Britain (202,359 cases out of a population of 66 million inhabitants). There have been 88 deaths in the past 24 hours. The total death toll is 1,625.

South Korea, a local contagion; first in the week

Four new cases of Covid-19 infection have been reported in South Korea including one local, the first since Saturday. The rest are imported. In total, 10,810 cases of new coronaviruses have been confirmed in the country. The death toll is 256.

Japan: schools reopen in less affected areas


Back to school in areas of Japan less affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The first institutes to reopen are those in the prefectures of Aomori and Tottori, despite the state of emergency extended until the end of May by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The Kyodo agency reports the reopening of 76 public schools in Aomori prefecture, closed on April 20. NHK TV reports the return to class for all public school students in the Tottori prefecture, where classes were closed from April 27 to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. In Japan there are more than 16,000 cases of Covid-19 and 556 deaths since the beginning of the health emergency. According to Kyodo data, only three cases of Covid-19 have been recorded so far in the prefecture of Tottori and 26 those in the Aomori region.
