P4 Jönköping was the first to say on Wednesday that the municipal auditors have decided that the municipal council in Mullsjö should not be granted discharge. Last night, the local council had an extra meeting, but has so far declined to comment on the matter in the media.

Economy that is not in balance

SVT has taken part in the municipal audit review of the financial statements for 2019, which shows a number of shortcomings. The municipality does not live up to the municipal law's requirements for a balanced economy. The report shows that the municipality has negative balance sheet result of SEK 25.7 million to restore. The deficits must be restored within a three-year period from the year they occur. This will require powerful measures, according to the auditors' review.

When the auditors then review the annual report's reporting of the business objectives, they mean that only one of six goals in the operations is met. According to the auditors, the three financial goals in the municipality are also not met.

"The summary assessment is that the municipality does not meet the criteria for good financial management according to the Municipal Act," the report further states.

Comment on press conference

The municipality's chairman, Linda Danielsson (S), so far has not wanted to comment on the audit criticism. Today at 4.30 pm, the local council has called for a press conference to give their views on the situation.

In the end, the municipal council is to decide whether boards, committees or preparations should be granted discharge. It should be done before the end of June. The Board of Directors may decide according to the auditors' assessment in the audit report or arrive at a different position.
