The banks of the Loire (here the Banana Hangar in Nantes) have been prohibited since March 31. - S. Salom-Gomis / Sipa

Since March 31, access to watercourses and their banks has been strictly prohibited in Loire-Atlantique, in order to avoid walks and gatherings likely to promote the spread of Covid-19. The prefectoral decree, which is added to the ban on beaches and the coast, is however more or less respected, in particular on the edges of the Loire, where many inhabitants reside, and on the edges of the Erdre, particularly popular with joggers. Barriers and posters were however installed to dissuade the recalcitrants.

The situation will be easier to understand next week since, as part of the deconfinement, access to the banks of the river and the rivers of the department will be authorized again, says the prefecture, confirming a confidence slipped Wednesday by the prefect Claude Harcourt.

Not the beaches

However, it will be necessary to wait for Tuesday since the prohibition order remains in force until Monday, May 11 inclusive, specifies the prefecture.

Despite numerous requests, it is still not envisaged, however, to allow access to the beaches and the coast from next week.
