During Wednesday's press conference, Anders Tegnell said that communication about recommendations for domestic travel this summer should not come until the end of May.

- We are doing a large national study where we will get better data on how the distribution looks in different parts of the country. How it will be this summer depends a lot on how the development will happen. It will take another couple of weeks before we can give a clearer recommendation on travel.

SVT News has been in contact with the regions of Skåne, Halland, Västra Götaland, Gotland and Jämtland Härjedalen - all of which are also popular holiday destinations.

"Is there an uncertainty"

Several of the surveyed regions express uncertainty ahead of the summer as it is not known if the corona pandemic will increase or decrease domestic tourism and whether or not there is adequate care capacity.

- There is uncertainty about which scenario we will face during the summer. Will we see an increase in the number of cases, will it be constant or will it decrease a little? We have a planning and are preparing for all three alternatives, says Martin Engström, director of health at the Halland region.

At the popular summer destination Gotland, they are also struggling to prepare for various outcomes, while there is concern about increased spread of infection.

"May not be able to provide best possible care"

- We on Gotland are an island, we are rigged for health care based on the population level here, which is now 60,000. , management communicator at Region Gotland.

But while there is a fear of increased burden on health care, there is a huge cleavage on the part of the regions as they have many companies that are dependent on summer tourism.

- It has huge consequences. Summer is the peak of tourism and it is clear that then revenue and jobs will fall away, companies will fall over, says Fredrik Lindén, CEO of the Tourist Board in Western Sweden.

All of the surveyed regions stated to SVT News that they will follow the authorities' recommendations, and if they could say goodbye to holiday celebrating Swedes, it is "follow the guidelines of the Public Health Authority".
