In the context of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, to transform the Dubai government into a fully intelligent model and made Dubai the address of smart cities in the world, the Dubai Municipality’s Geographic Information Systems Center announced the completion of photographing and linking all the features and buildings of the emirate Intelligent systems that are transferred to the main database in a smooth and fast.

His Excellency Eng. Dawood Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality stressed that this achievement comes within the municipality’s strategy and commitment to providing the finest services in accordance with the highest international standards followed to develop smart and innovative solutions that allow the use of geographic information systems, and benefit from them in providing accurate data that helps in the decision-making process, and contribute to Enhancing user experiences in various fields.

Al-Hajri said: "The three-dimensional imaging of the landmarks of the Emirate of Dubai was carried out by the Dubai Municipality's geospatial scanning vehicle, which is an integrated system for collecting geospatial data that installs the top of the car to perform field-scanning using a high-resolution laser scanner and GPS satellite positioning devices. In addition to a group of panoramic cameras for 360-degree vision, to produce 3D data with high accuracy for all the emirate’s features accurately, the data is collected while the car is traveling at a speed of 80 km per hour and then it is processed to produce an integrated digital model. ”

The Director General of Dubai Municipality added: “The geospatial scanning process is characterized by high accuracy and high speed in data collection operations within all areas that were surveyed, and even those that witness densities and crowds. This system is characterized by efficiency in producing three-dimensional models and extracting accurate data for Dubai landmarks And, which includes government assets and public utilities in all its forms from infrastructure installations and event sites, the system also provides accurate data from inside large buildings such as airports and galleries, and three-dimensional models of open areas such as parks, squares, stadiums, as well as hypocrisy".

Excellence

The output of the system that Dubai Municipality owns is superior to those of the systems used in the field of regular panoramic imaging of landmarks, by using laser devices that produce dense clouds of coordinates (Point Cloud) that shape the features geometrically with five centimeters accuracy that enables the production of a three-dimensional model for all the features that are covered And converting it into accurate data, while parallel panoramic photography only provides access to the general features.

This system is also characterized by the extraction of features and assets using the technology of artificial intelligence geomechanical that can be used at any time and any place as needed, while the products of parallel companies provide specific areas and are updated annually. Geospatial survey technology is one of the supporting elements of sustainable cities by giving decision makers the ability to manage, integrate and analyze the big and complex data related to those cities, which is also one of the main foundations of smart cities.

The Dubai Municipality is the first government department in Dubai to possess such an integrated geospatial data collection system, which is an essential component in building the Dubai Digital Twin Model for infrastructure enhancement.
