A work by Banksy paying tribute to healthcare workers, on the front line in the fight against coronavirus, was installed at the hospital in Southampton, in the United Kingdom. It will be auctioned for the benefit of the British healthcare system.

The black and white work of the famous British street artist depicts a boy in overalls, kneeling, abandoning in a basket his Batman and Spiderman figurines, to brandish the doll of a super heroine: a nurse wearing a cape, mask and apron decorated with a red cross, only touch of color.

Entitled "Game Changer", the approximately one square meter work is hung in a corridor of the Southampton hospital.

"Thanks for all you've done"

"Thank you for everything you do. I hope it will brighten up the place a bit, even if it is in black and white," the artist wrote in a note to the staff.

Once the containment is lifted, the work will be exhibited to the public, before being sold at auction. The funds raised will be donated to the British health care system, the NHS, a Banksy spokesperson said. Previous works by the artist were sold for several million dollars.

The United Kingdom, one of the countries most mourning the pandemic of coronavirus, recorded Wednesday 30,076 deaths. This number exceeds 32,000, if we add the deaths for which Covid-19 is the probable cause but not confirmed by a test.
