Qatar Petroleum has signed three agreements to acquire approximately 30% of the total share of Total in three marine areas (15, 33 and 34) located in the Campeche basin in the Gulf of Mexico.

Qatar Petroleum has reported that the three agreements will be subject to the usual official approval of Total's current partners and the Mexican government.

Commenting on this occasion, Eng. Saad bin Sharida Al-Kaabi, Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Petroleum, said, “We are pleased to sign these agreements that reflect our commitment to implement our strategy for international growth and enhance Qatar Petroleum’s presence in Mexico, where Latin America occupies a central position in Our international investments. "

Al-Kaabi added that Qatar Petroleum is looking forward to cooperating with Total and all its partners in these regions and the government of Mexico, thanks to the Mexican authorities and to the Qatar Petroleum partners for their continued support.

The three marine areas of the Campeche basin are located between 30 and 90 km from the two giant Cantarell and KMZ oil fields.

The total area of ​​it is about 2,300 square kilometers, and the depth of water in it ranges between 10 meters and 1,100 meters.
