Coronavirus: Donald Trump keeps the task force but changes its mission

Confusion about the fate of the team that coordinates the fight against coronavirus in the United States. On Tuesday May 5, President Donald Trump said that he plans to disband this small group led by Vice President Mike Pence. But on Wednesday morning, the president announced on his Twitter thread that it was simply a question of changing his mission.

" The coronavirus task force has done a fantastic job ," enthuses the president on Twitter before detailing the missions accomplished under the leadership of vice-president Mike Pence.

And Donald Trump continues: “ Because of its success, this team will continue its work indefinitely. It will focus on security and the reopening of our country . ”

The president added that this group will also have to deal with the issue of therapy and vaccines, that people could be integrated into or removed from the team.

The day before, Donald Trump had said that he envisaged the dissolution of this group, which had raised many questions about the fate of the two doctors who work there, Doctor Fauci and Doctor Birx, and especially on the way in which the general public was going to be now informed of the aftermath of the epidemic.

More than 71,000 people have died from coronavirus in the United States, and while the rate of progression of the epidemic appears to be slowing overall, it continues to increase sharply in some states. But the president's priority is clear: he now wants to devote himself fully to the resumption of economic activity.
