A five-year-old boy was arrested on a highway in the western United States after driving the family car to buy a Lamborghini in California, thousands of miles away. According to Utah traffic police who stopped the boy on Monday, he left home after arguing with his mother who refused to pay him for the expensive Italian sports car of his dreams.

Three dollars in his wallet

"He decided to take the car himself and go to California to buy it," the police said on Twitter. "He was in danger of being a bit short on the purchase price because he only had three dollars in his wallet," added the police. 

A video broadcast by the police shows the SUV driven by the child winding its way across the highway lanes in the middle of the other cars and trucks passing it. The vehicle then parked on the left side of the road when Constable Rick Morgan activated his police siren.

No accidents caused 

"When Constable Morgan walked into the driver's door, he found it strange that he couldn't see the driver's head from the back," Utah traffic police said in a statement on Tuesday. .

The boy, whose identity has not been released, managed to drive approximately three to four kilometers before being stopped and fortunately did not cause an accident. "The family claimed that the boy was in the care of an elder that morning; the latter fell asleep and the boy took the keys to the SUV hanging from a hook in the house," said police.
