China News Agency, Taipei, May 5 (October 1) Last year, on October 1, a fracture and collapse accident occurred in Nan'ao Bridge, Yilan County, Taiwan, causing 6 deaths and 12 injuries. The Taiwan Transportation Safety Investigation Committee (referred to as the "Yuan Anhui") issued a factual report on the 5th that the steel cables of the bridge are corroded, the thickness of the asphalt is too thick, and the undetected for many years are the three keys to the accident.

According to reports from Taiwan media such as China Times and Lianhe News, after nearly 7 months of investigation, the National Security Council announced the factual report on the "Nanfangao Bridge Fracture Accident" on the 5th. The report pointed out that the bridge has only been painted and paved three times in 21 years. After April 28, 2016, the bridge was not tested again. The thickness of the asphalt pavement is twice that of the original, and the distribution is uneven. The thinnest part is 9.6 cm. The thickest part is 17 cm. The increased thickness should be paved by the road maintenance station in the later period, which increases the weight of the bridge deck. The corrosion status of the 13 steel cables of the bridge is also the key. The degree of corrosion is still to be announced later.

In addition, the report also concerns the punishment list of Taiwan Port Corporation. The company has previously stated that administrative punishment will not be directed at the grassroots level, and senior officials will be held accountable if they have responsibilities. (Finish)
