"When we saw the result, you can only say that it was sad," says Linda Uller, social manager in Söderköping Municipality.

In the overall result of various clothing and hygiene practices, Söderköping is among the five worst of the around 70 municipalities that participated in the survey. Several different parts are included in the measurement. For example, a municipality may be good at having properly manicured nails, while it will have a bad result when it comes to proper working clothes.

Municipalities decide for themselves whether to participate

This is the second year that Söderköping is participating in the survey, which is being done by Sweden's municipalities and regions, SKR. The poor results in year two have prompted the municipality to make changes immediately.

Municipalities decide whether they want to be included in the survey or not. Then it's your own staff who simply check each other according to a form to see how dress and hygiene practices are followed.

Corona pandemic may have affected the outcome

The measurement at Söderköping Municipality's elderly homes and other similar activities gives a clear indication that certain hygiene routines have not been followed closely enough. However, there are shortcomings that make it impossible to overstate the results. Few units have responded, some units have only responded to parts of the survey, other units with top results from last year are not included in the current survey at all. Linda Uller believes that this is because the businesses have had so much to do with the corona pandemic that the investigation has not been prioritized.
