Sergeev noted that the deceased academician devoted his life to the development of the domestic space program.
“He was the general designer of NPO Energia, and was responsible for the manned program. In fact, we have lost a key scientist who was responsible for the relationship between fundamental science and practical space, ”the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences added.
In February, the head of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that Mikrin had contracted a coronavirus infection and was treated at home.
