On the eve of Emmanuel Macron's announcements for the culture sector, at a standstill since the start of the epidemic, Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, was on Tuesday the guest of Europe 1. He notably mentioned the reopening, from May 11, of certain monuments and "small museums".

The world of culture is at a standstill on French territory: museums, theaters, cinemas and monuments closed their doors in March, faced with the epidemic of coronavirus. But certain infrastructures, in particular the "small museums", should be able to reopen as of May 11, announced the Prime Minister. Guest of Europe 1 Tuesday morning, the Minister of Culture, Franck Riester, gave some details.

Reopening on a case-by-case basis

Libraries and media libraries are authorized to open their doors on May 11, just like "small museums", announced Edouard Philippe. "We want to limit travel, so small museums and monuments which, by their type of attendance do not involve significant travel outside a living area or outside the department, may, if they respect the sanitary conditions, open from May 11, "says Franck Riester.

"It is up to the owners of these sites to see if they are able to respond to health recommendations and if they meet the criteria I have just told you about," he said.
