It was a few weeks ago that the young people came together and formed the group We Dom Young and in an open letter, local politicians invited the Biskopsgården to a meeting. The background to the initiative is the shootings and the deadly violence in Gothenburg, which in recent years have affected, among others, Hisingen.

- Violence affects us young people. It is we who live in the area and who go to school here. We think we can contribute a lot with thoughts and ideas on how it can be prevented, says Daniel Zamani.

Several politicians were present

During the meeting, which was held on Monday, about ten politicians and officials attended. Yasmine Posio Nilsson (V) and Simona Mohamsson (L) were two of them who came to listen and have a dialogue with the young people.

- What is new and what the young people strive for will I listen to and bring with me, says Yasmine Posio Nilsson (V).

- I think it's important to answer when someone says "come here and listen". I'm here for them to answer me, says Simona Mohamsson (L).

Want to invest in culture and leisure

Daniel Zamani himself believes that investing in culture and leisure with more recreational centers and tournaments in football and basketball can help reduce the violence.

- We need somewhere and things and things to do, not just hang out in the square. If you bet on it, I promise you will see a reduced tension in gang crime, he says.

The meeting was the first of its kind and the youngsters hope it will lead to more in the future.

The investment is also made in collaboration with the groups Hisingens Young Leaders, Hisingens Youth Council and Youth at Hisingen.
