At 8:30 p.m. Sunday (12:30 a.m. GMT Monday), the Baltimore-based university, whose count is referenced, had recorded more than 1.15 million cases of Covid-19 infection and 67,674 deaths. The United States is by far the country with the highest number of deaths from the pandemic.

The epicenter in New York

The figures announced Sunday evening by Johns Hopkins University are stable compared to Saturday, the day in which 1,453 deaths were reported, after a peak of 2,502 deaths on Wednesday. The epicenter of the American epidemic is located in New York, where nearly 19,000 people died from the disease.
