04 May 2020 25 people have been arrested by the Guardia di Finanza for drug trafficking and arms possession. The investigating judge's order, at the request of the DDA, arranges the prison for 21 suspects and the house arrest for another 4. The operation was carried out by soldiers of the provincial command of Catania supported by those of Rome, Naples, Palermo and by the Messina Air-Naval Group .The accusations in various capacities are illicit trafficking in narcotic substances, with the aggravating circumstance of having facilitated the Santapaola-Ercolano family and of holding weapons. The investigation called 'Shoes' of the Catania Economic-Financial Police Unit allegedly blocked the flow of cocaine, marijuana, hashish and crack between the Catania clans which, according to the accusations, allegedly supplied themselves from the Campania, Albanian, Calabrian and Lazio criminal organizations .
Six drug carriers were arrested in the act of crime and seized 4 kg of cocaine, 52 kg of marijuana and 25 kg of hashish.
