- Suddenly we are using new smart working methods, things that we have thought of but have not come to terms with, we have now implemented and this is not just about intensive care, he says.

When people started getting sick in covid-19, intensive care needed to be adjusted to suffice. As there are not enough intensive care nurses, new teams were built up which also included anesthetists, doctors, nurses and other staff.

- It's been fantastic thanks to the staff's attitude, says Kristian Thörn, chief physician and acting chief operating officer for intensive care in Örebro County.

New trials for the staff

The covid work entails new trials for the staff. Normally, they have close contacts with the patient's relatives, contacts that must now be handled in a different way.

- We have new guidelines that mean that we talk to the relatives on a daily basis, usually over the phone. Sometimes we meet outside the hospital. In some cases we have arranged for the relatives to come into the ward, but it is very difficult, says Kristian Thörn.

What are your thoughts on corona and how it has affected us?

- Right now we are focusing on doing the work that is required for the patients so I have not been able to reflect, but I am absolutely convinced that this will leave deep marks on us in the future.
