24,760 dead in France, the PACA region classified in green

France has this Saturday evening 24,760 deaths from coronavirus, or 166 more in the last 24 hours, announced Saturday the Directorate General of Health in a press release. In detail, 15,487 people died in hospitals and 9,273 in social and medico-social establishments. In addition, 3,827 patients are in intensive care, 51 less since Friday. 25,827 people are hospitalized with Covid-19, of which 72% are in four regions: Île-de-France, Grand Est, Auvergne Rhône Alpes and Hauts de France.

For its part, the new deconfinement card presented on Saturday evening by the health authorities is identical to that of the previous day, except for the PACA region which turns green. France therefore now has 32 red departments (unchanged), 22 oranges (against 28 the day before) and 47 green (against 41 the day before). 

Government extends state of health emergency

The government adopted on Saturday morning the bill extending for two months, until July 24, the state of health emergency against the Covid-19. The text details in particular the functioning of the "health brigades", in which doctors will play a key role. Additional work which will be paid up to 55 euros to inform a patient that he is positive and to study the contact cases of his close circle. Macron promises culture measures on Wednesday

Emmanuel Macron promised Saturday of "first decisions" Wednesday, for the world of culture, to a complete stop and in great difficulty since the confinement imposed in the fight against the coronavirus. "To the artists who have expressed themselves, I mean that I hear them. The State will continue to support them, will protect the most fragile, will support creation. The future cannot be invented without your power of imagination", a wrote the head of state, in a tweet posted Saturday afternoon.

More than 241,000 deaths worldwide, more than 85% in Europe and the United States

The coronavirus pandemic has killed at least 241,682 people worldwide, including more than 85% in Europe and the United States, according to a report drawn up by AFP from official sources on Saturday at 7 p.m. GMT. More than 3,398,390 cases of infection have been officially diagnosed in 195 countries and territories since the start of the epidemic. Since the previous day, 6,167 new deaths and 94,645 new cases have been recorded worldwide. 

The United States is the most affected country in terms of both death and case numbers, with 65,645 deaths for 1,121,414 cases. Italy follows with 28,710 deaths for 209,328 cases, the United Kingdom with 28,131 deaths (182,260 cases), Spain with 25,100 deaths (216,582 cases), and France with 24,760 deaths (168,396 cases). Among the countries hardest hit, Belgium is the one that deplores the highest number of deaths compared to its population, with 67 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Spain (54), Italy (47), the United Kingdom (41), and France (38). Europe remains the continent most affected by Covid-19 with 142,223 deaths for 1,521,847 cases.
