New assessments, new measures, highlights: an update on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic, which killed more than 243.00 people worldwide.

- Partial deconfinitions in Europe -

First deconfinement measures come into force on Monday in several European countries.

For example, Italians can visit family or get together in limited numbers.

- South Korea: more flexible distancing -

South Korea has announced an easing of social distancing in the coming week after the number of new coronavirus cases has dropped in recent days.

As of Wednesday, "rallies and many events will be (again) allowed, provided they implement disinfection measures," said Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun.

- More than 243,000 dead -

The pandemic has killed at least 243,637 people worldwide since its onset in December in China, according to a report by AFP from official sources Sunday at 11:00 GMT.

More than 3.44 million cases of infection have been diagnosed in 195 countries and territories.

The United States is the most affected country, with 66,385 deaths. Italy is followed by 28,710 people, the United Kingdom (28,131), Spain (25,264) and France (24,760).
