Former British international Gary Neville on Sunday accused Premier League clubs of being "scared to death" at the prospect of having to publicly support the season's recovery plan, which was suspended by the new coronavirus pandemic.

"The PL is living a communication nightmare. They keep saying + health first +, then saying over and over + we have to start again" the season, he said on his Twitter account.

"I would respect them more if they said:" We accept the increase in health risk, but we are ready to take it. "They will not do so because they are scared to death!" Said Phil Neville's brother.

When a Twitter user asked Neville what would happen if someone died following the restart of the championship, the former Manchester United defender replied, "That's why we haven't heard a single one. CEO / President / Owner or prominent executive open his mouth to support the restart! "

Premier League stakeholders gathered on Friday to discuss how to end the championship. There are reports that some clubs want to drop the season due to the pandemic and others are keen to play the remaining 92 games.

The French and Dutch seasons have been canceled due to the health crisis and, although the Premier League has apparently announced a comeback in June, this date is far from fixed.
