A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian in the town of Garidech, near Toulouse, on Friday May 1 in the late afternoon. According to La Dépêche du Midi , the victim, who was walking along provincial road 888 when he was mowed, is Philippe Poitrenaud, the father of the former international rugby player and co-coach of the Stade Toulousain Espoirs, Clément Poitrenaud.

Aged 66, Philippe Poitrenaud was well known in the event industry. He notably led the Parc des expositions de Castres (Tarn) for ten years, or even took charge of the organization of Toulouse Plages.

An ongoing investigation

An investigation was opened by the gendarmerie to determine the causes of this fatal accident. Also according to the regional daily, the motorist was placed in police custody and the first elements show that he was driving neither under the influence of alcohol nor under narcotics.
