Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has reduced the number of passengers using the Dubai Metro by 78.4% in every train on all flights, as part of its implementation of a number of precautionary measures to limit the spread of the new Corona virus.

The announcement of the reduction rate came in a statement to the Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, Mattar Al Tayer, broadcast on the authority’s digital platforms, in which he confirmed that the number of passengers was reduced from about 643 passengers to 138 passengers in each of the Dubai Metro trains, during his explanation On the role of the authority in supporting the efforts made at the emirate level to combat the virus.

Al Tayer also pointed to the reduction in the number of passengers who use the taxi to be limited to only two passengers in the back seat of each vehicle, pointing to installing health isolation breaks on the taxi to isolate the driver from the passengers, to ensure the highest levels of protection for its users.

Al Tayer stressed that the metro and public transportation are subject to daily cleaning and sterilization operations, in addition to applying a set of measures that include determining specific seats for passengers to be used, whether inside the train or on public buses, to ensure that a safe distance is kept between them, as well as placing land marks in trains and buses. Passengers must adhere to leave a separation distance between them and others.

The Dubai metro was suspended from March 26 to the date of April 25, so that the metro will return to work again, under strict precautionary measures and measures applied inside the stations and on the flights that include requiring passengers to wear the muzzle during the use of all types of public transport and while in its locations and facilities Affiliate.

The Dubai Metro operates from 7 am to 11 pm from Saturday to Thursday, and from 10 am to 11 pm on Fridays.

The sterilization teams during the period of national sterilization conducted extensive sterilization operations for the stations and their facilities, as well as for the trains and their vehicles, with all their internal and external details, and the authority confirmed its continuation of daily cleaning and sterilization operations for the metro and all public transportation means as well as taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

The authority has not yet announced the date for restarting the tram, and it also continues to stop all marine transportation services that include open, air-conditioned ferries, ferries, water taxis and water buses, including transportation via Alfire flights between the Emirate of Dubai and the emir of Sharjah in addition to stopping the transportation service via bus lines Intercity until further notice.

Since the 26th of last month, the authority has returned to provide transportation services for public buses inside the city according to its regular schedule during the day and announced on its website, while 13 lines operate from 10 pm until 6 am including 8, 10, 12, A13, 17, 24, C01, C07, F18, F21 and F34 F43 and X23, at a rate of every 30 minutes.
The authority stressed that the public's use of public transport in all its forms obliges them to apply the prescribed and applicable preventive conditions, and that any violation of the procedures and conditions followed exposes them to legal accountability and violation.
