Abu Dhabi Police have warned against begging emails via WhatsApp and social media that request help in unregulated ways, explaining that it is a crime in violation of the law, and it is run by fraud gangs, targeting random members of society.

She stressed the need not to obey the fake requests of fraudsters, pointing to the continuation of their messages as they found an interaction or response from the victim and urged the need to ignore the response to them, and to report their content with the competent police authorities to take the necessary measures regarding them.

The reasons for begging in general and its concentration in Ramadan were attributed to the failure of some members of society to report beggars, which would motivate them to continue to achieve their illicit goals, noting that electronic begging is a similar picture to traditional begging, which includes people being misled by misleading methods and tricks, dramatic stories and fabricated accounts Its goal is to drain the victims ’savings by providing charitable aid to fictitious individuals and destinations.

She emphasized the continuation of her efforts to address this scourge, through campaigns "inspection, awareness and control" that contributed to reducing crime, eliminating behaviors that give a negative impression on society, and continuing her efforts in raising awareness through social media and various media outlets in a way that contributes to strengthening crime prevention and spreading reassurance .

She invited the public who receive emails for the purpose of begging, to contact the Command and Control Center 999 and the safety service at the toll-free number 8002626 (AMAN2626) or by text messages (2828) or via email (aman@adpolice.gov.ae) or through the smart application of the General Command of the Police Abu Dhabi.
