Three members of FC Cologne have tested positive for coronavirus and placed in the fortnight, the club said on Friday, as the Bundesliga hopes to resume competition in May.

"The entire Cologne team and management, as well as the backstage staff, were tested for the Covid-19 on Thursday. Three people tested positive, all are asymptomatic," said FC Cologne, who "will not confirm the names "of the persons concerned.

"FC Cologne training can continue as planned, depending on hygiene and infection control measures implemented since April 6 within the group", which will be subject to further testing, adds FC Cologne .

"The health and privacy of the players and staff take precedence over everything else. The previous measures and the strategy of regular testing have shown that we can now react with individual solutions," said the director of FC Cologne, Horst Heldt, quoted in the club press release.

On Wednesday, the German Football League (DFL) reported that clubs from the German Championship had started screening tests.

The Bundesliga is the most advanced championship for a resumption of competitions, completely stopped since March 13 due to the coronavirus: the ministers of sports of the Länder - the regional States - considered possible a resumption "mid- May or end of May "and behind closed doors of the championship.

Last week, the German League (DFL) announced that it was ready for a resumption from May 9, behind closed doors by applying hygiene measures and testing players regularly.

In France, the League on Thursday pronounced the final stop of the season. No date for the resumption of competition has been set in Spain or England. In Italy, the clubs wish the resumption of Calcio, but the government has excluded collective training until May 18.
