The badminton world championships, originally scheduled for August 2021, will be played from November 29 to December 5, 2021 in Huelva, Spain, the International Federation (BWF) announced on Friday.
This decision was made to allow the Badminton Worlds not to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics, postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the pandemic of new coronavirus.
"The new schedule will allow players to have a clear horizon for 2021 where they will have the dual objective of the Olympic Games and the world championships," the BWF said in a statement.
