“We are an independent, established state with a thousand-year history, and we decide how to develop transport logistics and ensure the security of our territory. The appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to international parliamentarians is pure populism. We don’t trade in our territories, we don’t give back as concessions, in case of a threat we protect, ”he said.

The deputy noted that the Crimean bridge was built in Russian territorial waters and is indicated on all navigation maps of the world, regardless of whether "Ukraine likes it or not."

“Therefore, I consider the measures to ensure the safety of navigation near the Crimean peninsula as absolutely adequate, correct. So in the end, the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada is just a hype for Ukrainian deputies who want to bask in the rays of media fame, ”Balbek added.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution calling on parliaments of foreign states and assemblies of international organizations to increase pressure on Russia.

In particular, the Ukrainian parliament calls on the world community to continue the policy of non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea to Russia and to increase political, diplomatic and sanction pressure.

It also speaks of the requirement for Moscow to “refuse to expand aggressive actions in the Black Sea region” and to condemn the construction of the Crimean bridge.

Crimea became the Russian region after a referendum held in March 2014, in which most residents of the peninsula voted to reunite with Russia.
