Norwegian billionaire Tom Hagen, 70, is suspected of murder or assisting in the murder of his long-lost wife Anne-Elisabeth Hagen. On Wednesday, he was detained with a letter of ban on four weeks - of which the first two will be spent in complete isolation.

According to the Lower Roman District Court, it is likely that several people are involved in the suspected murder of a billionaire woman. For arrest reasons, it was stated that Tom Hagen risks removing evidence or contacting fellow prisoners.

Appeals for the arrest

On Thursday, Tom Hagen appealed the arrest decision.

- He is disappointed and surprised. The decision will be appealed, lawyer Svein Holden told the newspaper Dagbladet.

The defender argues that prosecutor Mathias Emil has not reached a reasonable basis for suspicion.

- In our opinion, one cannot say, based on what the police have presented, that Hagen is the probable perpetrator, says Svein Holden to NRK.

Suspected to have staged kidnapping

Anne-Elisabeth Hagen has been missing since last October 2018. Tom Hagen has since been in close contact with the police and several times sent e-mails to them with different theories about what may have happened to his wife.

On Tuesday, the case took a new turn when the billionaire was arrested just outside his home in Oslo. Police should have already started summoning their suspicions against him this summer, according to the World Gang. Tom Hagen is suspected of murdering his wife and then staging a kidnapping to mislead the police.

The police also suspect that Hagen has fabricated communication with the kidnappers.

"It has not been a real negotiator or question of real negotiations," police inspector Tommy Brøske said after the arrest on Tuesday.

Tom Hagen denies the charges.
